• Legal tender coin of Sierra Leone
• Available in Proof Sterling Silver with Crystal inset
• Limited edition of only 5,000 coins worldwide
• Struck four times to achieve the legendary Pobjoy ‘Proof’ finish
• £1 from every coin sold will go to the Born Free Foundation

Joy Adamson devoted her life to the animals of Africa. She is best known as the author of Born Free, the heartwarming story of Elsa the orphaned lion cub she raised in Kenya. Adamson was born in 1910, and Sierra Leone issued a magnificent coin in 2010 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of her birth. The Sterling Silver outer ring features lions, while the centre shows a lioness engraved in genuine crystal. It is only the third silver and crystal coin in the world, but the edition is limited to only 5,000 due to the difficulty of making a coin in silver and crystal.

Pobjoy Mint has joined forces with the Born Free Foundation and £1 from every coin sold will go to help save Lions in Africa. The Born Free Foundation was established in 1984 to help save animals in captivity. The charity is now dedicated to protecting threatened species and working with communities to help save their local wildlife.
