The nomination for two individual categories issued by the Falkland Islands and British Antartic Territory goverments were released in 2014 and represent the highest achievement in theme, design and marketing from mints and central banks from around the world.
Nominee for the Bi-Metallic Category:
2014 Falkland Islands - £2 Bi-Metallic - collectable coin which commemorates the Centenary of the Battle of the Falkland Islands.
Nominee for the Artistic Category:
2014 British Antarctic Territory - £2 Sterling Silver - The design on this commemorative coin shows an adult female Orca with her calf swimming in the Antarctic waters with an iceberg in the background.
These nominees will now be reviewed by a worldwide panel of judges comprised of mint and museum officials, journalists and individual experts. They will choose a winner in each of 10 individual categories. A second round of balloting will select the Coin of the Year from among the category winners.
The awards will be presented during a ceremony in February 6, 2016, at the World Money Fair in Berlin, Germany.
