70 Years of HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip: Goodwood Races Portrait - 2017 Cupro Nickel

It is a rare occurrence that a coin is issued with a duel effigy featured on the obverse, this makes this coin incredibly special! Pobjoy Mint has received exclusive approval from the Queen to feature a duel-effigy of her and HRH Prince Philip together. We are incredibly excited to have this permission as it is the first time that this portrait has ever been used on a coin!

On the reverse of this coin we have featured a design based on a photograph of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh at Goodwood races in 1954. A smile spreads across the Queens face as she is reunited with the Prince after a few weeks apart. In order to maintain the exclusivity of this coin Pobjoy Mint is proud to issue 10,000 Cupro Nickel and 2,000 Proof Sterling Silver coins on behalf of the Falkland Islands.
