Flamingos Series: Andean Flamingo - 2019 Coloured Virenium Dollar Coin

Pobjoy Mint is delighted to announce the release of the penultimate coin in the series which feature the extraordinary flamingos on behalf of the British Virgin Islands.

The fifth coin in the series features the Andean Flamingo which is one of the rarest flamingos in the world.  The breed has a pale pink body and brighter underparts, a deep pink lower neck, breast and wing coverts.  It is the only species with yellow legs and three-toed feet.

The coin depicts an adult Andean Flamingo with its chick. The coin has been produced in Virenium®, a metal developed by Pobjoy Mint which is light gold in colour. The obverse of the coin features the exclusive Pobjoy Mint effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
