Flamingos Series: James Flamingo - 2019 Coloured Virenium Coin

Pobjoy Mint are excited to announce the release of the second coin in a series of coins which feature James's Flamingo on behalf of the British Virgin Islands.

Named after Harry Berkeley James, a British naturalist who studied the bird, the species was thought to be extinct until a remote population was discovered in 1956. The plumage of this species is very pale pink with bright carmine streaks. The coin features two adult James' Flamingos with one sifting through the water for food.

The coin has been produced in Virenium®, a metal developed by Pobjoy Mint which is light gold in colour. The coin is available will the main flamingo in full colour which really shows the magnificent plumage to perfection.  The obverse of the coin features the exclusive Pobjoy Mint effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
