Justly proud of its steam railway, the Isle of Man is celebrated its 125th Anniversary with a superb issue of eight coins that reflect the glory of the Golden Age of Steam and feature some great locomotives in railway history. From the very first working engine, Stephenson's "Rocket", to the high-speed record breaker, "Mallard", the coins bear beautifully sculpted designs that portray these magnificent machines in lovingly fine detail.
The design on this coin depicts the LNER Flying Scotsman which is probably the most famous locomotive in the world. The "Flying Scotsman" became the first train to run non-stop from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh, on one occasion reaching 100mph to set a new world record.
