Pole vaulting originates from as far back as the Ancient Greeks and was later used as a method of crossing marshes and drainage ditches. The event involves a person using a large pole (now usually made of carbon fibre or fibreglass) as an aid to leap over a bar. The iconic London Bus is famous for its distinctive red colour and double-decker shape, making it one of London’s most recognised landmarks.
