The Royal Wedding of Prince William to Catherine Middleton - 2011 Unc. Cupro Nickel £2 Coin - SGA

Pobjoy Mint is pleased to announce the release of a further coin in the Royal Wedding Collection, this time issued on behalf of the Government of South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands.

This superbly detailed coin, which has been approved by both Clarence House and Buckingham Palace, carries Prince William’s Coat of Arms which were given to Prince William on his eighteenth birthday in June 2000. 

The design is derived from the Coat of Arms of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and to distinguish Prince William’s Coat of Arms from those of his father, Prince Charles, and his brother Prince Harry, there are varying points from the white label around the shield and the necks of the Lion and Unicorn with small red sea-shells shown on the points. 

These sea-shells have been developed from the Spencer Coat of Arms, Princess Diana’s family.  The obverse of the coin carries a fine effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.
